We are the Bishops.
As the story goes, Jeremy and I Diana met in 2013 on a dating website. This was back in the day when the sites didn’t have apps and we chatted on our laptops. I was in school at the time and I would have to wait until after class when I would excitedly get home, forget all my homework and just c2hat with him for hours on end. We talked online for 10 glorious days before we met in person.
Our first date was Jeremy taking me kayaking and exploring through the mangroves at the Everglades National Park in Florida. Our second date which was two days later was us getting on a plane to Nicaragua and exploring the country from our backpacks. We were in love and we quickly realized that we had a passion for travel and the best part was that we had similar travel styles. It was then we knew we had to keep each other.
We continued our adventures exploring the places we lived like in Canada where our love for mountain adventures really grew. One October evening we were camping in Whiteswan Provincial Park in BC when a storm came in just as we were setting up our tent. We rushed into our Subaru huddling together out of the cold waiting for the rain to pass so that we could finish setting up our tent and cooking our dinner.
It was getting late and the rain wasn’t letting up. As we sat miserable waiting, I watched the family camping over in the site beside us. They were in their RV, I watched them walking back and forth in their huge camper unaffected by the rain, blissfully making dinner as though the heavens were not about to drown us.
It was a few days after that sitting in a bar in Revelstoke, BC while reminiscing on our epic BC adventure, we decided to invest in a van so that we could adventure in comfort.
While researching vanlife, we came across stories of multiple people traversing the Pan American Highway from Alaska to Argentina and we were immediately intrigued. We always felt as though if other people could do it, surely we could do it too.
In the process of planning our grand adventure, we were surprised with a twin pregnancy. Our boy girl twin miracles were born in 2018 but this didn’t stop our desire to travel. We just had to do it a little different.
We left our home in Calgary, Canada in May of 2022 with the goal to drive our self built campervan all the way to the tip of South America.
Hey there, my name is Diana and I am the main curator of this page. After a year on the road, I thought it would be fantastic to share our adventures with other families or individuals.
I would love to inspire even one person to travel like we do because the time we have curved out for ourselves has been the greatest gift to us.
I absolutely love watching my children grow and learn in their travels. From seeing them navigate playing with kids that don’t speak the same language to watching them be so comfortable in nature, I am now convinced that we made the right choice in our travel.
I hope that our story can inspire others to get out there, out of their comfort zone within the comfort of their families to explore the world.
